Oscar Nominations Predictions

Oscar Nominations will be announced tomorrow morning, here are my predictions and a few wishes.

Best Picture – Last year we had 10 nominees, this year the academy has said the list will be between 5 to 10 depending on the percentage each film gets.

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows part 2 – This is more of a wish, but it would be nice if the industry finally recognized this franchised. It made them all so rich and raised the bar for other franchises to follow.

Best Actor

Jean Dujardin – The Artist

George Clooney – The Descendants

Brad Pitt – Moneyball

Gary Oldman – Tinker, Tailor, Soldier Spy

Slot 5 – a toss up between, Michael Fassbender – Shame, Ryan Gosling  – Ides of March or Drive, Michael Shannon – Take Shelter.

Long Shots – Leonardo DiCaprio – J Edgar, Daniel Craig – Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Joseph Gordon Levitt – 50/50

Best Actress

Michelle Williams – My Week with Marilyn

Viola Davis – The Help

Meryl Streep – The Iron Lady

Tilda Swinton – We Need To Talk About Kevin

Rooney Mara – The Girl with The Dragon Tatto

Maybe’s – Glenn Close – Albert Nobbs, Charlize Theron – Young Adult

Best Director

Martin Scorsese –  Hugo

Woody Allen – Midnight in Paris

Michael Hazanavicius – The Artist

Alexander Payne – The Descendants

Terrence Malik – The Tree of Life

Maybe’s – David Fincher – The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo

Best Supporting Actor

Christopher Plummer – Beginners

Albert Brooks – Drive ( this is my favorite, but I know it is Christopher Plummer’s year)

Kenneth Branagh – My Week with Marilyn

Jonah Hill  – Moneyball

Nick Nolte – Warrior

Long Shots – Alan Rickman – Harry Potter, Seth Rogen – 50/50, Patton Oswalt – Young Adult

Best Supporting Actress

Octavia Spencer – The Help

Shailene Woodley – The Descendants

Berenice Bejo – The Artist

Jessica Chastain – The Help

Janet McTeer – Albert Nobbs
