Monday September 17th What You Should Watch

17 Sep

Next to “Nashville” the new show I am most looking forward to is “Revolution”.  The wait is over the show premieres tonight at 10 on NBC. I actually got to watch the pilot on iTunes last week. It was ok, I wasn’t blown away, but intrigued enough to come back for episodes 2 and 3 before I decide to keep or delete off the DVR.

“Bones” season 8 premiers at 8pm on FOX, this show really should have called it quits after season 5, but it is a ratings champ for FOX so it keeps on keeping on. Perhaps it will rebound this year.  Interesting fun fact, David Boreanaz has been on TV with no breaks for the last 15 years and 3 series. That has to be some kind of record, he played Angel on “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” for three seasons, then “Angel” for 5 seasons, followed immediately by “Bones” for the last 7.  Bones producer Stephan Nathan just revealed that they are currently negotiating with Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel for 2 more seasons.

The series premiere of “The Mob Doctor” at 9pm on FOX.   I don’t think any of us believes that “The Mob Doctor” will last more than a few episodes. I am not even setting the DVR.

ABC is airing a 3 hour special, from 8 to 11pm of highlights from the 4 day Country Music Association Festival.  I wonder how many times the “Nashville” promos will run during this show.

CBS is repeats from 8 to 11, and The CW is running back to back new episodes of  The LA Complex at 8 and 9.

The Blind Auditions continue on The Voice on NBC at 8.

Revolution

Episode: Pilot

Bones

The Mob Doctor

Episode: Pilot
Dr. Grace Devlin struggles to meet the demands of her job at Chicago’s Roosevelt Memorial Center as she also works for the mafia men to whom she is indebted.

CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock

Highlights of the four-day event featuring today’s hottest country music stars; Luke Bryan and Kimberly Perry host.

Wednesday September 12th – What’s On

12 Sep

Drumroll please…………the moment we have all been waiting for the premiere of The X-Factor with Brittney Spears on FOX at 8.

NBC at 10 premieres Guys with Kids, and Animal Practice at 10:30, now which one of these will be cancelled first.  Do you think they will beat last seasons record holder for fastest sitcom canceled currently held by “Free Agents“.

Guys With Kids

The X Factor

Hopefuls perform for the judges.

Tuesday September 11th – What You Should Watch

11 Sep

Finally – Premieres Begin Tonight.

NBC is first out of the gate with Go On, The New Normal and Parenthood.

Did you catch the pilot of  “Go On” this summer during the Olympics? As I said I give all new shows three episodes, this one has 2 more and its a goner.  I love Mathew Perry, but this show isn’t really that funny and the premise wore thin by the end of the pilot.

I watched the pilot for “The New Normal” on Hulu last week, it has it’s moments, but somehow it just feels like on big PSA for gay couples and their right to have babies. Which isn’t surprising since it is from Ryan Murphy, the same man that turned Glee into one long PSA last season.  2 more and its a goner. Ellen Barkin is the Sue Sylvester of this Murphy production.

Parenthood, loved the movie, can’t get into the show, but I am setting the DVR and giving it another chance.

The Voice continues tonight on NBC at 8, and the top 4 perform on So You Think You Can Dance on FOX at 8.

Go On

Ryan struggles to keep the group separate from his personal life; Steven awkwardly tries to help Ryan overcome his loss

The New Normal

A waitress and single mother from the Midwest agrees to be a surrogate mother for Los Angeles couple Bryan and David.

Parenthood

As Haddie prepares to head off to college, the Bravermans gather for a family portrait; Joel and Julia worry about the behavior of their newly adopted son; Sarah tries to impress a photographer (Ray Romano) with her skills as an assistant.

Monday September 10th – What You Should Watch

10 Sep

CBS airs a 30 minute Fall Preview tonight at 8:30, hosted by you favorite 2 Broke Girls.

The Voice returns at 8 on NBC. The Voice has slowly gained respect and a loyal following over the last two seasons.   American Idol has an uphill battle this year with all new judges. I think the curiosity factor around Britney Spears judging on The X-Factor will wear thin. Look for The Voice to come out the winner this season.

CBS Fall Preview

Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs host a first look at “Partners,” “Vegas,” “Elementary” and “Made in Jersey.”

The Voice

During blind auditions, the coaches select vocalists for their teams

Friday Night Fights – What to Watch

Fight Cancer

September 7, 2012 Show

The 2012 Stand Up To Cancer Show

Building on two historic fundraising telecasts in 2008 and 2010, Stand Up To Cancer will return to primetime television on Friday, September 7 (8:00-9:00 PM ET & PT). Executive producers Gwyneth Paltrow and Joel Gallen will join Stand Up To Cancer’s production team to deliver a one-of-a-kind show featuring performances from top recording artists, and celebrities from film, television and sports engaging viewers with powerful stories and a moving call-to-action.

This star-studded appeal will continue to build public support for groundbreaking translational research accelerating the delivery of new therapies to patients, getting them from the “bench to the bedside” as quickly as possible. SU2C brings together scientists from different disciplines across various institutions to collaborate.

ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC are donating one hour of simultaneous commercial-free primetime for the nationally televised fundraising special on Friday, Sept. 7, to be broadcast live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. BIO, E!, ENCORE, HBO, HBO Latino, ION Television, LMN (Lifetime Movie Network), Logo, MLB Network, mun2, Palladia, SHOWTIME, Smithsonian Channel, STARZ, STYLE, TBS and VH1 have also committed to carry the Stand Up To Cancer telecast, with other cablers expected to, as well. The program will include a celebrity phone/multi-media bank that will allow viewers to interact with participating talent. Viewers will also be able to donate via text-to-give and at standup2cancer.org. One hundred percent of all public donations will go directly to cancer research.

The first two SU2C telecasts took place on September 5, 2008 and September 10, 2010, and have been viewed in more than 190 countries. To date, more than $180 million has been pledged for SU2C’s innovative cancer research. Since 2008, SU2C has made grants to seven multi-disciplinary “Dream Teams” of researchers as well as to 26 young innovative scientists who are undertaking high-risk, potentially high-reward projects to end the reign of cancer as a leading cause of death in the world today. Sixty-eight institutions are currently involved.

Fall 2012 What’s On When

4 Sep

Sunday is a tough night for the first half of the TV season because of Football, and this year it gets tougher, the games will be starting later. But that didn’t stop CBS from keeping “The Good Wife” in it’s 9pm slot from last year and moving “The Mentalist” to 10pm. I wonder if this will be it for Simon Baker and crew, at the end of this season it will have 116 episodes, plenty for syndication beyond TNT.

ABC moved its breakout hit “Revenge” to 9pm, followed by rising star “666 Park Avenue”. 666 should benefit from Revenge’s lead in, but will it hold the audience.  I don’t know about you but Sunday doesn’t exactly scream drama about the devil night, maybe its just me.   “Once Upon A Time” is back at 8pm.

Look for football to win the first half of the season, and ABC to win the second.

Monday – ABC isn’t messing with the formula, its “Dancing with The Stars” at 8 and “Castle” at 10.

For as long as I can remember CBS Monday night at 9 was the time slot for comedy success. 2 Broke Girls moves into that slot this year, 2 1/2 Men has moved to Thursday.  Former champions of the 9pm slot, “Everybody Loves Raymond” and “Murphy Brown”. CBS debuts the new sitcom “Partners” in Girls old spot at 8:30.

Fox is going with “Bones” at 8, “The Mob Doctor” at 9pm, I wonder what is going to take Mob Doctor’s space when it is cancelled in 3.2.1.

But the biggest news is NBC at 10pm, “Revolution”, the new JJ Abrams show about what happens when the power is out.

Tuesday is still NCIS night on CBS, comedy night on FOX and low ratings night on NBC.  Same as last year.

Check out “The Mindy Project” 9:30 on Fox, Vegas at 10 on CBS and yes I will be back for more “Hart of Dixie” 8pm on The CW, followed by “Emily Owens, MD” for as long as it lasts. I don’t think Meryl Streep herself could save this one.

Wednesday is all about ABC, from 8 to 10 its the comedy block, new entry ‘The Neighbors” will be cancelled and “Happy Endings” will be back with its Wednesday family before long. But the biggest event is at 10pm “Nashville” , everyone who has seen it, says this is the one to beat this year, the new champ.

The CW has “Arrow” at 8 and “Supernatural” at 9, I know your asking is Supernatural sill on, well yes it is and this is it’s 8 season. Holy Smokes!

Thursday has three new entries, “Elementary” (Sherlock Holmes show), “Last Resort” (submarine thriller) and The CW’s “Beauty and the Beast”(this year’s secret circle).

We still have “Grey’s Anatomy” followed by “Scandal”, “The Big Bang Theory” and “2/1 Men”.  What else is on, lets see, let me think, oh yeah, VAMPIRE DIARIES.  It’s on, have you seen the trailer I posted earlier.

Friday, for me its all about “Fringe”, the final season, 13 episodes of bliss. Followed by “Blue Bloods”.

Saturday I remember when Saturday was must see TV, “The Love Boat“, “Fantasy Island”, now its repeats, crime and football.

Got all that?  Book mark Zap2it.com, best listing and news site on the net.  Even better than TV Guide.
