Sunday 3/4 What You Should Watch

4 Mar

Well it is a busy night tonight, GCB premieres on ABC, The Good Wife is back, Celebrity Apprentice, The Amazing Race and Once Upon A Time are all new tonight.

Lets discuss GCB, formerly titled, Good Christian Bitches then changed to Belles, now just GCB. It is written by Robert Harling, the man responsible for “Steel Magnolia’s” and produced by Darren Starr, the man responsible for 90210, and Melrose Place just to name a few. It is based on the book Good Christian Bitches by Kim Gatlin.

The series centers around Amanda Vaughn (Leslie Bibb), former high-school “Queen Bitch,” a recently-divorced single mother of two who returns to her hometown, Dallas. She meets the former schoolmates she used to mock: Carlene Cockburn (Kristin Chenoweth), Good Christian’s Dallas and GCB “Queen”; Sharon Peacham (Jennifer Aspen), who was beautiful in high school and is now insecure and does the bulk of Carlene’s bidding; glamorous gossip queen Heather Cruz (Marisol Nichols); and Cricket Caruth-Reilly (Miriam Shor), powerful Dallas real-estate agent whose husband Blake (Mark Deklin) is gay.[5] Amanda and her children reside with her 50-something mother Gigi Stopper (Annie Potts), who still acts like a 20-something.

I will check it out, but I don’t think it or I will be sticking around.

The Good Wife “Alienation of Affection” Observations

9 Jan

We are back from Christmas break, the last new episode TGW aired was “What Went Wrong”, and quite frankly that is exactly what I was asking. TGW had gotten off track after a great start, and I wondered if it would get back to business.  That question was answered last night, with “Alienation of Affection”.

Who knew chasing down paper could make me as tense as watching Tom Cruise dangle from a building in MI4.  Did you know one of the greatest movies about the law is called “The Paper Chase”, you should check it out. Ok, back to the show, so Alicia almost sinks LG, but Cary saves the day.  I have been in love with Matt Czuchry since he played logan on Gilmore Girls, I am so glad to see this actor getting  a chance to really show his stuff.

The show continued it’s impressive run of recurring guests stars with return performances by Carrie Preston, F. Murray Abraham, Zach Grenier and Bryan Brown

What was really good about last night’s episode you ask? The amount of Alicia and Kalinda scenes, finally the girls are getting back together, they are peanut butter and jelly, sure you can eat on without the other, but they are oh so much more satisfying together.

How they served everyone with the lawsuit, an art gallery, a school, a wedding and David Lee in full Gilbert and Sullivan Pirates costume.

Carrie Preston representing Will in his grand jury trial.  I know there isn’t room, but it would be great if they could make her a regular.

The way Diane put Eli and David in their place when they go into it.  I hope Eli and David have more scenes together, these actors have tremendous energy.

OMG the equity partner meeting at the beginning, all you needed was a some pasta and red wine and it would be Sunday dinner at my Grandmother’s house.

Welcome back Good Wife, can’t wait for next week.

The Good Wife – “Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot”

21 Nov

Christine Baranski, this is your Emmy submission episode, you were fantastic. The scene outside with Will, “stop sleeping with his wife”, flawless.

Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, or WTF are military call signs, since Alicia was handling a military case it worked. I prefer to think it was no coincidence that the abbreviation is WTF, because last was full of WTF moments.

Lets start with Alicia’s case, she lost, which Lockhart/Gardner has done before, but always for a reason. And this time it was the drone policy of the US, it commented on, but didn’t condemn what some think is a dangerous practice because the rate of civilian casualties is to high.

Wendy Scott Carr is back, and boy is she cold, she is going to do Peter’s dirty work and go after Will.  I have a hard time believing Peter is doing all of this because Will and Alicia are sleeping together. It seems very petty for a man who wants to be governor or senator. I suppose taking down a lawyer who sets up judicial brides makes him look tough to voters. But if it ever got out the man he was after was also sleeping with St. Alicia I think it could bite him.

Favorite parts of last nights episode were Eli and the cheese.  Loved watching him get yanked around by fruits and vegetables and his own food chart was hilarious.  Alicia “locking” Jackie out of her apartment was fantastic, I clapped and let out a gleeful laugh. That woman had it coming.

Worst part of the episode watching Dana and Kalinda flirt it up at the bar, Kalinda had to know she was being played. My girl in those kick ass boots is too smart for that crap.  To add insult to injury watching Cary and Dana have sex, ewww. Cary and Kalinda are made for each other, if only in my mind.

Will has to break up with Alicia, I wonder how he will do it, and if he will tell her its because of Peter’s investigation. The show is back in two weeks and it looks like Grace goes missing. Which would be ok, if for one second I actually believed anything bad was really going to happen to Grace.

If this was a different show, it might have her kidnapped, or killed, which for my money would really throw this show for a loop. It would create a clean slate, Alicia would be so distraught she wouldn’t have time for Will so the relationship would just fade away. It would bring her and Peter back together and it would kick his campaign into high gear. But like I said, this isn’t that kind of show, its not ballsy enough.
